Giunchigliani Leading Momentum for Las Vegas Mayor

According to respected poll, Chris Giunchigliani has passed Larry Brown and is closing on Carolyn Goodman in the race for Las Vegas Mayor.

Earlier polls have suggested that Carolyn Goodman certainly leads in name recognition, something very important in any political race. Larry Brown has also previously edged out Chris G in similar polls, though not by much.

Now it would appear that ideas, personality and grassroots campaigning are catching up to the popularity factor in this race. Name recognition alone cannot win this race for anyone.

In this race it comes down to what kind of leader people in Las Vegas want. On the one hand, you have Chris Giunchigliani who has served the public with veracity for a few decades. She’s been a school teacher, a very successful legislator who got a lot done, and a vibrant voice on the County Commission. Carolyn Goodman has been an administrator at an elite private school. Hmmmmm.

As one local put it, Chris Giunchigliani is a public servant, while Carolyn Goodman is a self serving public figure.

In previous mayoral races, we have seen people win 35% of the vote, only to keep similar numbers in the runoff election. Many experts believe that this might be the fate for Carolyn Goodman.

One Response to “Giunchigliani Leading Momentum for Las Vegas Mayor”

  1. I don’t understand why Giunchigliani does not want the North Las Vegas Water Reclamation Facility to open??? All she has said is that she didn’t believe it should not have been built in the first place. What does that mean? Is that going to be her stance as mayor? I didn’t like it so mothball it. It would be nice if the mayoral candidate could express a logical argument for her positions. As of now, her aloof candor has inspired me to vote against her.
