Danny Tarkanian Running a Nasty Race in Nevada

This race has already been in the national spotlight after Danny Tarkanian, Republican candidate for Nevada’s new Congressional District 4, made racially heated comments about his African-American opponent, Democrat Steven Horsford.

In one comment, Danny Tarkanian accused Steven Horsford of “pretending to be black.”

Comedy Central picked up the story with a headline that read:  “Nevada Candidates Debate Who Is More Black (It’sProbably the Black Guy)

In another comment, equally as baffling, Tarkanian suggested that he would connect well with black voters of this district because of basketball.  You can’t make this stuff up.

“He’s had one of the rockiest starts to a campaign I’ve seen in a while” said one conservative political observer, who spoke on conditions of anonymity.  “Considering he’s already lost three races (he’s 0-3), the numbers are stacked against him.  Unfortunately for Republicans, no one put him on the bench.”

His opponent Steven Horsford is an ample foe, and has at least a 13-14 point registration advantage in this race.  So maybe this race isn’t all that interesting.  Or maybe it is, in the same way a train wreck is interesting.  Given the desperate situation Danny Tarkanian finds himself in, being a Tea Party candidate in a strong leaning Democratic district and all, we are already starting to see some pretty nasty things coming from his campaign.

Tarkanian hired an outside group called Harris Media to run his online/social media campaign.  They have a pretty amazing list of clients they brag about: Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Allen West, etc.  With friends like these…

What I’ve seen so far is nasty attacks on Twitter and Facebook.  In addition to the spelling missteps, including one tweet that misspelled his own opponent’s name, they have engaged in some of the most misleading stats and information we’ve seen in 2012 from any campaign.

Even worse they are utilizing a fake Twitter account to say some of the more nasty things the campaign won’t say, like making fun of Steven Horsford’s deceased father.

I’m sure it will get worse.  Personally, I’m looking forward to the next time Danny opens his mouth.  History has proven that every time he does, something quite rich will come out.

One Response to Danny Tarkanian Running a Nasty Race in Nevada

  1. Tarkanian has a law degree from the University of San Diego. From what I can tell, Horsford never graduated from college. And…McAffee? Who the hell knows and who the hell cares?

Tark runs a b-ball camp, that serves a lot of African-Americans. Why is that racist? He and his father have coached, socialized and helped more people of color that Justin McAffee has seen on TV.

This blog was nothing but hogwash.

Sad to see writers sell their souls.
