Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan for his Vice Presidential running mate? Time out! You have got to be joking! I can’t think of anyone more controversial, someone who offers less balance to the ticket, or someone who will rile up more Democrats to turn out in November than Paul Ryan.
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this is self sabotage.
And I thought this race was going to be interesting. Just as it was getting started, Mitt Romney ended it. What will be interesting is to see how the American people react in polling after this announcement.
This pick brings back to life one of the most damaging discussions Republicans have had to deal with in the past two years. Paul Ryan is the author of the budget proposal so many Republicans like Joe Heck and Dean Heller voted for, that ends Medicare.[1] Paul Ryan is the poster child for killing Medicare.
Is this a hoax? Or the dumbest VP choice in the history of America? Or just another fine measure of Mitt’s decision making capabilities?
This is why America sucks. A guy like Mitt Romney inherits wealth from his father, goes to Harvard Business School, gets rich firing people and outsourcing jobs, and tries to run for president on a platform of self reliance and individualism. Oh the irony. Then he proves once again by picking Paul Ryan that it isn’t his individual smarts, hard work or decision making capabilities that has got him anywhere in life, it’s his family money.
Gee Mitt, you ruined the election cycle with this crap! Journalists and bloggers will have some stuff to write about, but it’s going to be soo much more predictable. I’m not even excited anymore.

I would just like to say Mitt Romney you suck ….you don’t give a damn about the poor only god knows the people that would elect him as president.you have been bashing Obama for the mess that bush left hanging behind.you’re a joke and don’t deserve to win.you’re childish with you’re comments and you’re a selfish individual.and Paul Ryan you pick him and he doesn’t know shit.
Enjoyed the article. Just wanted to add that Romney has always slammed President Obama that he has no business experience. That he has served all his time in political office.
So what does Romney do? He picks Ryan, a guy who has no experience in business and has spent all his life in the political arena!
The hypocrisy abounds….
I go out on a limb here and say that Ryan wasn’t his first pick. I bet others were approached. And they declined.
Because the simple fact is that Romney is toxic. People like Portman and Pawlenty know if they had accepted, this would have destroyed all political aspirations and ambitions later on in their careers.
I can’t prove it, but I am probably pretty close to the truth about that. Ryan wasn’t his first pick. More like his last.
John Lundin put it very succinctly: “Bottom line: Polling in favor of Obama has been steadily rising – he’s nearly at a double-digit lead! – and Ryan isn’t going to change that. And in the all-important Electoral vote count, most poll-of-polls sites show him with a lead of about 323 to 206. When I factor in the swing states, most or all going to Obama as they lean now, I come up with a landslide victory for Obama of 347 to 191. I see the electoral numbers remaining nearly flat-line until November 6th, and there’s nothing Ryan can do to change it.”
