Come November 2012, I hope people know who Joe Heck and Dean Heller are and what they stand for. Both of them are Republicans running for federal office: Heller for senate, Heck for Congressional District 3. Before you consider voting for either of them, consider whether you want the Sheriff of Nottingham representing you in Washington. If you are filthy rich and have no heart, morals or sense of decency, by all means give them your vote.
If you are against taking from the poor and giving to the rich, don’t give your vote to Joe Heck or Dean Heller! If you think I’m just painting some unfair picture of them, please consider these FACTS:
1. They both supported Paul Ryan’s budget in 2011, even voting for the bill multiple times.
2. Much like last year, Paul Ryan’s budget proposal this year does little to actually reduce the national debt, focusing more on just cutting any program that helps people of low income while giving more money to the wealthiest Americans. Things like Medicare, Pell Grants, Food Stamps and Job Training take the brunt of the cuts from Ryan’s damaging budget proposal. As a matter of fact, 62% of Ryan’s budget cuts are from these programs.
3. Paul Ryan’s plan INCREASES funding to the military, despite our military spending being the single largest portion of our federal budget and the highest world wide by a long shot. (Help Americans? No! Kill foreigners? Hell yes!) Who’s up for some more wars?
4. Paul Ryan’s plan CUTS TAXES to the tune of a $3 trillion dollars, mostly a give away to the richest Americans. Still trying to figure out how cutting 3 trillion more in taxes is part of a debt reduction plan…
Yes, the Republican plan in a nutshell is to take money from the poor and give it to the rich. Isn’t that lovely? Who’s proud to be an American?! Personally responsibility! Family Values! Woohoo!
Nobel Prize winning Economist Paul Krugman summed it up best in the New York Times last week:
His plan is really about transferring money from the poor to the rich, with no credible deficit reduction at all. That, after all, is what they did last year — he even received an award for fiscal responsibility.
It was Joe Heck and Dean Heller singing Paul Ryan’s praises last year, voting for his atrocious plan multiple times. Decide if these two really represent you or the America that you know and love.
