I know this might be shocking to some of you that Americans expect Congress to act in times of national crisis, but it would appear that Republicans and their tea drinking consultants have been operating under the belief that Americans want Congress’s response to economic catastrophe to be absolutely nothing.
To be fair, Republicans have tried to do one thing, and one thing only… tackle the debt. Their brilliant plan for doing so is, as usual, tax cuts and perhaps a few programs that don’t amount to much of the debt but mean a lot to our most vulnerable citizens. You know, things like Social Security, Medicare, unemployment benefits, financial aid for students. Never mind that the largest chunk of our debt comes from military spending protecting our vast global empire and breeding more terrorism in the Arab world, which will create more wars to fight down the road.
For those who say there’s no justice in the world, largely you are correct…but at least this “do nothing” Republican plan has been measured in the polls and found wanting. As a matter of fact, this 112th Congress is receiving the lowest approval ratings since polling data on congressional approval ratings began.
Oh but that hasn’t persuaded any Republicans that maybe it’s time for a change of strategy. According to reports, Republicans think they are doing just fine the way they are. Doing nothing is the way to go in their “minds.” How can you be so obtuse as to think that receiving the lowest approval rating in history warrants continuing the same behavior is beyond me. What was that definition of insanity offered by Albert Einstein? I believe it goes: “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.” Well, at least these blowhards have their principals aye?
Americans want action. The GREAT AMERICA always being referenced to by nostalgic conservatives is the America that has taken action in times of crisis. That greatest of GREAT AMERICA was when Democrats controlled the Congress from 1945 until 1993. We saw the greatest periods of economic growth and technological innovation. Hell, we put a man on the moon! Let the damned Democrats do their thing like they’ve always done and get this country back on track. It’s time for another TEA PARTY, and I mean like the original one. We dump the teabags into the ocean and be done with it!!!!

Justin McAffee – I know this might be shocking to some of you that Americans expect Congress to act in times of national crisis,
When the Congress created the crisis, what Americans do not need is the is trying to cover up its tracks with even more bad legislation
Justin McAffee – Their brilliant plan for doing so is, as usual, tax cuts and perhaps a few programs that don’t amount to much of the debt but mean a lot to our most vulnerable citizens.
The Depression of 1921 which was of the same size of 1929 was solved in 18 months by cutting taxes and reducing government by about half. The GOP is not going far enough to get this economy on a course of true growth not an artificial high off the sugar Uncle Ben is pushing.
As for Justin’s appeal to emotion fallacy with “vulnerable citizens”, all that is is a smokescreen to mask that the entitlements [ unconstitutional as well as immoral ] to the “needy” contribute 1/3 to the economic dead-weight around the throat of the nation;s economy. [ the other thirds being an insane foreign policy and a constantly devaluing currency making the poor even more poor].
Justin McAffee – For those who say there’s no justice in the world, largely you are correct.
Justice is not a right, the pursuit of justice without infringing upon the life, liberties and property of others is.
Justin needs to get some books an reread what are rights
Justin McAffe – That greatest of GREAT AMERICA was when Democrats controlled the Congress from 1945 until 1993. We saw the greatest periods of economic growth and technological innovation.
Growth actually began in 1947 with the repeal of the crippling rationing, illegal price controls and a currency once again by gold. True growth took off from 1947 till Nixon took us off gold and then its been one Fed/fiat created bubble after another.
The crux of the rant Justin wrote is the proper role of government.
There are those that say that government should do as much as it can but the problem lies is that government runs on what it can steal ( the PC word for this is tax) and if it steal too much, it will over reach itself and then no longer be able to maintain the “services” t was providing as we are seeing now in Europe and in the US.
Then there are those who say government has a limited role [ defend ( not protect) rights, property, life, defend borders [ not invade other countries w/o provocation ] and run on a honest currency that cannot be debased at will ( ie gold and silver )
The Founders believed in the latter
BOOOOOO YAH! You hit the nail on the head, Mr. McAffee! Enjoyed the article. It tells it like it is. Also, liked the logo. Hell, if it were available as a bumper sticker, I’d buy one and put it on my car. I’d gladly encourage Tea/Republican road rage.
Just to add to your article, I found the theme song for the modern day Tea/Republican Party.
The following is a song called “Save The Rich” by Garfunkel and Oates.
As a precaution, I must warn the readers it has coarse language that defies the strictures of societal discourse, but you do have to agree it DEFINITELY gets the word across. Enjoy….
