80% of our national debt comes from Reagan, Bush and Bush II. The two biggest culprits now are those Bush wars and the Bush tax cuts. The economic downturn caused by reckless deregulation during the Bush Administration is another big factor.
Predicted Republican response: “oh, blame everything on Bush.” Well, when the shoe fits, wear it. When it stinks, throw it out.
It might shock you to learn that Congress is about to pass another big wall street bailout. The conservatives call it an extension of tax cuts. The irony is they have spent the last two years railing against the Democrats for “spiraling debt.” And it worked! This ‘tax-cut for the wealthy’ bill amounts to an astronomically larger debt than 5 stimulus packages or healthcare bills would have.
The recipients of this tax cut are the very, very wealthiest Americans. Everyone should know by now that these are the people who need help in a major recession. What else is new? I thought the tea party’s rise was a populist movement about rejection of irresponsible government and bailouts for the wealthy. Guess I read that one wrong.
How can the American People stand for this stupidity? The only conclusion I am coming to is that we are facing Orwellian times. False propaganda is being used as bait and the American People are taking it line and sinker. We are witnessing a systematic deception of the People by a diabolical minority with a lot of money and power.
Whether it’s Fox News, the Cato Institute, AEI, or just the good ole GOP, we are bombarded with outright lies on a daily basis. These are supposed to be the smart and successful people. Why would anyone doubt them? That’s the problem. Would I sound cynical if I said they wouldn’t have got to where they are today by being honest?
Here’s the short list of lies of notable mention (among countless others):
Trickle down economics works (Supply-side). False.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac caused the recession. Government giving money to people who could not afford houses. False
The economic and budget successes of the Clinton years (despite large increase in taxes) was the result of Reagan policies from 1981. False
War in Iraq was Justified. False
Democrats are the cause of the debt. False

Justin, do you seriously think there is any difference between our political parties? They are both controlled by the rich
(got it?). Did you forget to take you meds today? Or did you take more than your prescription allows?
